Individual Supervision
Provisional Psychologists completing the 4+2 and 5+1 pathways to registration require a Principal Supervisor and at least one Secondary Supervisor. During your internship they will work closely with you to ensure you meet all the Board’s competency requirements and associated paperwork, including weekly logbooks, a reflective journal, progress reports and case studies.
Here at Mind Connection we understand that the relationship you form with your Primary Supervisor needs to foster growth, provide confidence and ensure that you have the resources and practical skills necessary to become an independent professional. We want to collaborate with you in developing the competencies required by the Board and provide the experiences you need to be a competent registered psychologist.
The role of a supervisor is multifaceted. One task is to ensure you develop the necessary skills and competencies to be a proficient clinician. Additionally supervisors should encourage your reflective capacity, provide a space for discussion, questions and clarification; support you through any challenges and model the skills necessary to establishing a therapeutic alliance.
